THE FARE
He said the buses should be free. The city agreed with him immediately and stopped paying. That was not the same thing.







Where this one came from
The honest one. He campaigned on fare-free buses and conceded in April 2026 that it would not happen that year, because fares are set by the state-run MTA and not by the city. Bus fare revenue fell about 31 million dollars in six months as riders stopped paying anyway. In July 2026 he announced a nearly 900 million dollar plan that makes buses faster and says nothing at all about fares.
